UK tour operators check out Tobago hotels
Posted Dec 10, 2018
The high-paced trip took place between December 1 and 4, 2018 with the objective of familiarizing the product managers with the range of accommodation offerings in Tobago. The immersive experience will also increase the product managers’ confidence in the quality of infrastructure, amenities, service, food and beverage available for their potential clients.
The Tobago Tourism Agency facilitated site inspections at fifteen (15) properties across the island, including Bacolet Beach Club, Blue Waters Inn, Castara Retreats and Tropikist Beach Hotel.
This familiarization trip was also conducted with the objective of raising awareness amongst tour operators in the United Kingdom about Virgin Atlantic’s direct route from London Gatwick to Tobago.
It is critical that we demonstrate to these key decision makers in the UK travel industry the quality of our hotel inventory in Tobago, so that they in turn can include as wide a selection as possible to their travel programmes,” stated CEO of the Tobago Tourism Agency, Mr. Louis Lewis.

The more hotels they can confidently sell, the more passengers they can generate to further support the airlift that currently flies from the UK to Tobago, and thus increase the international arrivals to the island.”
In addition to staying at and doing inspections at some of the island’s tourism properties, the group was able to experience some of the many activities and attractions available in Tobago. Some of these included birdwatching at Adventure Farm, a visit to Buccoo’s Sunday School, leisure time at Pigeon Point Heritage Park, as well as other culinary and cultural activities.
These experiences were intended to instill more confidence in the product managers to recommend that their companies sell destination Tobago, while supporting the Tobago Tourism Agency’s goal of reinforcing the unique attributes of the island through engaging marketing activities with international trade partners.
