As a self-catering facility in Tobago, TECU Coral Reef prides itself on quality. So, in 2016, it welcomed the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Industry Certification (TTTIC) programme to its doors. “We had just completed some renovation works and wanted to be sure that we were operating within the best practices of the industry,” said Vernella Jack-Joseph, Manager of TECU Coral Reef. “This programme enabled us to see our facility using "fresh eyes" and encouraged us to relook some of our processes,” she added.

As the national quality assurance programme for the tourism industry, TTTIC assesses whether tourism operators meet national tourism quality standards and thus signals to visitors that certified tourism operators have achieved minimum acceptable levels of service in their operations.

“When customers utilise services from TTTIC holders, they are assured that they are receiving a product that has been inspected and measured against best practice guidelines including safety requirements for public spaces,” said Vernella.

Speaking on her experience with the programme, she added “this programme is extremely educational, once you wish to provide the best product, allowing for the best guest experience possible, this programme will assist you in creating the environment required to attain this.”
